Chuck & Mud
Background Info
It all happened one night in 1978........
I was at a Christmas party my friend Jody had invited me to. I had been playing alot of piano then, taking lessons with a great player, but I missed my guitar. I had put it down for a few months, and felt like picking it up again.

I had seen Chuck here and there around town performing & I thought he was wicked cute . . . really, I don't remember much else! Except I really loved his rendition of Dylans Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands when he played in between the Zonkaraz sets. Well, at the party that night we finally had a chance to talk. Chuck, always one to be very eager to play amongst a group of people - had his guitar right on hand, and encouraged me to go get my mine. I jumped at the chance and we had a blast playing & singing together that night, and haven't stopped since!

That was the birth of Chuck & Mud. We played our first gig at the Paddock Lounge in February, 1979.

Since that time, we've played hundreds of coffeehouses, park gazebos, childrens concerts, schools, and basically, wherever anyone will listen! We started playing with other musicians right away, and formed The Hole in the Dam Band: Sten Gustavson on keyboards, Dave Nelson on drums, Walter Crockett on lead guitar and Mark Manuel on bass. Former members of the band were Dave (Boom Boom) Bonneau on drums, Peter Allard on bass and Todd Benson on saxophone. On April 3, 2004, we celebrated 25 years of playing music together at a sold out concert at the world famous Mechanics Hall in Worcester, MA, where our band and many of our musician friends joined us onstage for a thrilling, and joyous night!

During the day, Chuck is the director of Chestnut Nursery School and Kindergarten, located in Worcester, MA, and Mud teaches a pre-K class. We have two beautiful daughters, a cat, and the best dog in the world! ~ Chuck & Mud
